Q:
1. Got a new pair of glasses with bifocals and noticed that the left bifocal is slightly tilted and at a different height than the right.
I have had several pairs of glasses with bifocals over the years and no pair has ever had uneven bifocals or been tilted. Can this eventually cause eye problems above normal eye deterioration?
2. Are diopters only increased in quarter increments?
A: Hello,
Bifocal lenses have 2 diopters, the big one is for far vision, and the small one is for near vision, there are only this 2 diopters and the same on the whole surface of the lens, no variations.
For best vision, they should be mounted symmetrically, no tilting, no mistakes, because otherwise the accommodation process from far to close is disturbed and you will have symptoms like headaches, blurry vision or be tearing.
I think is a mounting mistake, you should go back and ask about it.
Hope this helps,
Arpi
